FDA renewing contract to fund cannabis study

The FDA recently announced it is renewing its contract with Waterloo University to conduct a cannabis study. Since 2019, the FDA and the University have conducted International Cannabis Policy Study (ICPS). This study surveys thousands of people across the US and Canada, studying consumption trends and the impact of cannabis policies at national and state levels.

Data collected includes:

  • Cannabis use trends, including patterns and prevalence

  • Motivations to consume it

  • Adverse effects

  • Exposure to cannabis advertising

  • The effectiveness of cannabis products labels and warnings

  • Cannabis use and operation of motor vehicles habits

  • Popular cannabis product forms

Why this matters

The FDA claims this is the most extensive survey of its kind and is often used by the governments of Canada, Australia, and some US states for policy-making decisions.

The results of this study may help support arguments for federal legalization in the US and encourage people to invest. This means right now is an opportune time to invest in well-vetted companies positioned for success.

Cocannco uses sound financial due diligence to identify and partner with these companies and crowdfunding to provide the cash infusion they need to grow.
